Compare Toyota Etios and Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire

Toyota recently launched the much awaited Etios , This will be coming in two versions the Sedan and the hatch back called Etios Liva. The Etios Sedan will be competing with the pre-existing cars like Swift  Dezire. Here is  a quick comparison between these two.

Toyota Etios

Toyota Etios is a good looking sedan with some great style feature which complements the look very well. Though the look is very simple and not at all aggressive , but  it does suit the car very well.

On the outside, the Etios has sharp styling cues with a big smiling grille that has been high-mounted especially for India. The car has a strong shoulder line with an upward cut along the bottom of the door. Sculpted surface and dynamic character-line in the front and rear, enhance the presence of the Etios

Toyota Etios sedan comes equipped with 1.5 litre petrol engine. The Toyota Etios sedan\’s engine will produce 90 PS of peak power at 5600 rpm. The engine generates maximum torque of 132 Nm (13.46 kg-m) at 3000 rpm.

Toyota Etios is loaded with light weight that delivers improved anti-knocking performance, and electronic throttle control contribute to high fuel efficiency. It gives a mileage of 17.6 kmpl on highway and 12 kmpl in city. This makes it a fuel efficient car without compromising on the performance and luxury.

The sedan will available in 6 colors comes with 5 variants namely Toyota Etios J, Toyota Etios G, Toyota Etios G safety, Toyota Etios V and Toyota Etios VX.

Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire

Maruti Swift DZire is based on the popular Suzuki Swift platform.

Maruti Swift Dzire is available in both Petrol and diesel version. The petrol version of the car is packed with 1.2 L, 1197 cc, K -12 series engine. The K-12 series engine is packed with 5 Speed Manual Transmission and it meets to BS IV emission norms.

The highly powerful engine of Maruti Swift Dzire offers greater fuel efficiency and great performance in terms of power, torque and acceleration. The diesel version is packed with 1.3L, 1248 cc DDiS engine with 5 step multi point common rail fuel injection system which offers better combustion and fuel efficiency.

This DDiS engine is also equipped with 5 Speed Manual Transmission that offers greater mileage and acceleration to the car.

Maruti Swift Dzire comes with many comfort features as well as safety features like power steering, tilt steering, power windows, air bags, electronic brake force distribution and brake assist.

Swift dezire offers a impressive mileage of 13.2 kmpl in the urban roads and 17.1 kmpl on the highways which can be expected from Maruti Suzuki cars.

Pros : Powerful K series engines, Good Fuel Efficiency.

Cons  : Space, Boot is too cramped

Toyota Etios does have some plus points when compared to Swift Dzire, Like the Toyota Quality, good and refined engine etc. But the Dzire is not far away it has its own Pros as well like the Maruti Trust and Service, The more fuel efficient engine. Yes the Etios is a worthy competition for Dezire but only time will tell how worthy it really is.
