Compare Tata Indica Vista Drivetech4 and Ford Figo

Tata launched the new Indica Vista Drivetech4 few days back, the new car has a better gear box then the old one . Indica Vista drivetech 4 is available in both petrol as well as diesel.

So its going to compete with pre existing cars on Indian roads, especially the Ford Figo, because Figo too comes in petrol s well as diesel options .

Here is a small comparison between these two hatchbacks.

The new features of the Tata Indica vista Drive Tech 4 include the latest Drive-by-wire technology, Eurotech gearbox apart from BS4 Complaint engine. The company has also introduced a 4-spoke tilt- adjustable steering wheel, dual air bags for both the driver and the passengers and an Anti-Lock Braking System. The driving seats can now be customized with height-adjustable drivers’ seat to deliver a comfortable driving position.

The Indica Vista Drivetech4 comes with a specially designed Eurotech gearbox mated to an option between either the brilliant Safire petrol engine or the even better Quadrajet diesel mill. The Eurotech gearbox has been designed to deliver higher torque at lower RPM, while at the same time, reducing vibration and improving the gear shifting experience.

    • Max Torque – 135 Nm @ 2500 RPM
  • These three engine options further come with 5 variants named – Terra, Aqua, Aura, Aura ABS and Aura

Pros : Good gearbox, spacious, Quadrajet ( diesel)

Ford Figo

\"\"

The four-door Ford Figo – Figo is Italian for “cool” – is a made-for-India compact car and it’s Ford’s first home-grown offering in that country.Ford Figo has been built on Ford’s global B platform and is smaller than compact cars. The large swept back headlamps, recessed fog lamps and the cleverly integrateed indicators are all hallmarks of a typical Kinetic design new generation Ford. The eye-catcher that runs from the indicator to the tail is angular, rather than a straight line, to reduce any visual heaviness that the car might have otherwise created.

Figo’s fuel tank can hold 45 litres of fuel and the car is expected to give a mileage of 12 km per liter in cities and 15 km per litre on highways.

Ford Figo has been designed keeping in mind Indian customers and Indian roads and would be available in the 1196cc petrol and 1399cc diesel engine versions. The petrol engine produces 71PS maximum power at 6,250 rpm with a maximum torque of 102Nm at 4,00rpm.The diesel engine produces 69PS maximum power at 4,000rpm and 160Nm maximum torque at 2,000rpm.Both versions of the Ford Figo come with a 5-speed manual transmission system and have a top speed of 160kmph.

Pros : Great Pricing (cheaper than Vista Drivetech4) , Good Looks

Cons : Interiors could have been better

Pricing :

Figo 1.2 Petrol

Lxi – Rs 3,49,900
Exi – Rs 3,81,900
Zxi – Rs 3,99,900
Titanium – Rs 4,42,900

Figo 1.4 TDCi Diesel

Lxi – 4,47,900
Exi – 4,72,900
Zxi – 4,96,900
Titanium – 5,29,900

Bottom Line : Though Indica Vista Drivetech4 comes with a new technology and a new gear box there is not much of a cosmetic change in the car ,it looks same as the old Vista, On the other hand Figo brings a new look to the hatchback market with its novelty factor. The Indica Vista Drivetech4 seems a bit overprices when compared to Figo.

Comparing with all the hatch back models available in Indian car market; Tata Indica Vista wins in most of the cases. Especially the space. It’s width and the hsight is bigger than all other cars. And it’s diesel qudrajet model gives better milage among others.

Hey but Figo doesn’t have back power windows even in top end version…A/c is very low when compared to Vista you need to place the a/c reading at 3 for the people seated at rear.

In the Pros for Figo u have mentioned that it looks better than the Vista drivetech4. I beg to differ. Take a look at the 360 degree view here – http://bit.ly/cxEmtb
The vista drivetech4 looks much better. So it scores over the Figo in all depts! Space wise, looks wise, performance wise. And it is priced right for its segment with the kind of features they are providing. Total value for money car i say!
