FoneMine has today announced the wide availability of the first broad-based platform that allows corporations and service providers to quickly and easily launch mobile interactive application services on any phone on any carrier. This means that any company can develop a strategy using mobile phones – whether starting from simple mobile marketing and evolving to full scale mobile commerce; or launching a fully automated business using mobile phones.

FoneMine’s Interactive Mobile Services Platform is the first to offer fully scalable integrated voice, data, and messaging for individuals and groups, real-time publishing, and ubiquitous reach to all mobile phones without the need for downloadable applications. The company’s current customers range from major advertisers starting with customer acquisition and growing to full mobile commerce; international service providers beginning with interactive groups and individual mobile messaging growing to next generation services; and financial institutions offering mobile finance services.

“Until now, corporations have had one of two choices for launching mobile services: pick an off-the-shelf mobile service with little-to-no customization, or build a full-custom solution that limits the company from easily expanding the service because of the additional programming needed just to make simple changes,” said J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D., VP and chief analyst, Mobile and Wireless at Frost & Sullivan. “What is really needed is a fully integrated interactive services platform on which companies can launch mobile businesses – whether starting with a simple marketing application, implementing an existing business process on mobile, or inventing an entirely new business using mobile phones. FoneMine is delivering such a platform to the market.”

According to Frost & Sullivan, currently there are 2.5 billion mobile phone users around the world and this is expected to reach 3.5 billion users by the end of 2011, growing at a rate of 8.7 percent. But most of these applications are strictly for personal use and consumer applications; and as wireless technologies and network capabilities evolve, corporations and service providers would like to be able to develop coordinated, strategic service offerings at various functional levels to build and leverage existing and new relationships with customers and other audiences. Frost & Sullivan’s research indicates that if it were relatively easy and cost effective to offer a broad variety of services on mobile devices, corporations would use them for broad-based marketing and Sales Force Automation (SFA), Field Service Automation (FSA), and many other applications.

One service provider that is using FoneMine is GETIT Infomediary (New Delhi, India). “The FoneMine platform enables us to take our market-leading Yellow Page solution mobile and rapidly launch our WAP-based mobile Yellow Pages in the marketplace (http://www.getitindia.com/html/home.html),” said Sidharth Gupta, the company’s COO. “Our partnership with FoneMine enables GETIT to roll-out the most sophisticated and useful yellow page search in India on a very robust and extensible mobile platform. This solution meets a real need - for India’s large mobile population to be able to connect with relevant businesses on the go in an easy, intuitive manner.”

FoneMine’s Interactive Mobile Services Platform

The FoneMine platform was developed with the idea that businesses and services providers need to easily and quickly build mobile-centric applications that would work on any phone. Importantly, the platform needs to work across the three mobile media – voice, SMS, and Mobile Internet. Moreover, the platform needs to allow businesses to build truly interactive applications for the mobile environment.

Leveraging the application services model, FoneMine has built a broad set of turn-key services that can be easily combined to build innovative, new mobile applications. The FoneMine platform is built upon an extensible foundation of core communication information and security services that include; alerts/notifications, 411 services, search-engine, voice/wap/text ad-engine and analytics, mobile to mobile and mobile to web community, click2call engine, location services, publishing services, and user/group personalization & access control services, all of which, can be used across different end-user services, thus enabling rapid application deployment.

The complete FoneMine platform is broadly available today. Applications currently implementing the FoneMine platform include; a customer service application for automobile service departments (leveraging SMS Notifications integrated with mobile internet pages), fast food restaurant chain promotions (using SMS as a way to collect a list of customers interested in deals), and an international content and media portal (using the FoneMine platform as a mobile community leveraging SMS and mobile internet).

According to Brad Erickson, executive director of Theater Bay Area: “We have tickets available for entertainment all over the San Francisco Bay area and want people to be able to use them up until the last possible minute. By working with FoneMine, we have been able to communicate to our audience via mobile devices – in addition to email – and suddenly audiences can decide to go to the show just before the curtain goes up.”
