Airtel ‘Mobile Instant Messenger’

Today, Bharti Airtel announced the launch of a new service called ‘Airtel Messenger’. This innovative service allows mobile phone users to text chat within a personalized set of communities.

Airtel Messenger is a feature-rich service that gives all Airtel mobile customers the advantage of having the exact same experience as a desktop chat service. Using this service, users can send and receive messages in real-time via their mobile phones without the need to be attached to a computer.

The Airtel Messenger service also offers a number of personalized features that include status tag options such as “Offline/Online”, “I am Busy” or “In a Meeting”. Besides, this mobile messenger service also gives users the advantage to convey multiple emoticons while in conversation. Also, its Presence-Enabled address book allows the sender to know when their contacts are online.

Users are also able to make multiple text conversations simultaneously using Airtel Messenger.

Installing Airtel Messenger on an Airtel mobile phone is a piece of cake. Follow the steps given below:
# To download the Airtel Messenger service, an Airtel customer needs to have a GPRS & Airtel Live activated handset. You can register for this by sending an SMS to 57070 with the message ‘IM’.
# Once registered, the user can create their own messaging communities by adding friends from their phone book or even by manually adding new contacts.

The Airtel Mobile Messenger service is absolutely free of cost only until August 31, 2007, after which users will have to pay fee.
